Gemma Collins' body 'swelled up' in lockdown as she admits new show 'feels like Big Brother'

Worried Gemma Collins was left unable to move during lockdown after her body "swelled up".

The TOWIE star was stunned by the scare which happened earlier this month.

As new show Diva On Lockdown kicks off tonight on ITVBe, she revealed she was left seeking help from telly doctor Gillian McKeith.

Gemma said: "I had to speak to Gillian McKeith the other day cos my body swelled up during lockdown.

"I could barely move, my joints were killing me, so Gillian told me to lay off the sodium, so I threw all my salt away."

Despite her unfortunate ailments, the reality TV queen is still her usual self and compared herself (naturally) to Marilyn Monroe.

"Like Marilyn Monroe was sent out to entertain the troops in the war times, I realised that the country may need the GC for entertainment and that’s what I want to give with this series," Gemma said.

"I’m a reality queen and I want people to see the realness.

"But I’m not gonna lie, putting the fixed cameras in my home was like being back on Big Brother again, but without a bunch of annoying people around me."

Gemma was only able to film one episode of her upcoming series before the government's new coronavirus guidelines meant that she had to self-isolate.

So instead of a camera crew, numerous cameras have been fitted inside her Essex mansion which, she has compared to her miserable 2016 Big Brother stint.

She said: "It's very strange, I’m not gonna lie, it’s bizarre.

"In TV you normally have loads of people around you to bounce off and have a laugh with.

"We’d planned the whole series and were meant to be going here, there and everywhere, but we just haven’t been able to do it.

"But as I always do, I wanted to make the best of every situation and I do believe we’ve been able to make a fantastic series."
