Gemma Atkinson 'trains for a baby' after announcing pregnancy with Gorka Marquez

Gemma Atkinson has made her gym comeback after revealing she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Gorka Marquez.

The former Hollyoaks star shared a string of clips as she headed to her newly adapted personal training session following news of her pregnancy.

The 34-year-old gave her all as she said “bye bye” to her previous regime by swapping out 40kg barbell lunges for less strenuous body-weight lunges, adding that she is “#trainingforbaby.”

Another image showed Atkinson with dumbbells in hand as she mocked trainer “evil Steve”.

Loved-up: The pair have told how they are 'beyond excited' to welcome their first child (Instagram/ Gemma Atkinson )

The workout comes after the radio presenter opened up on her new pregnancy-friendly workouts, vowing not to be too hard on herself.

According to the Sun, Atkinson told fans: “I'm back training tomorrow. Loads of you have messaged me asking since I've been pregnant am I still training and the answer is yes.

“Obviously I'm not doing the same kind of workouts as I was doing because you have to adjust and every pregnancy is different. The first few weeks I didn't really do anything because I didn't feel very well and I've just listened to my body.”

Atkinson added that she has put the needs of her unborn child first as she vowed to be healthy as a ”carrier” for her baby.

She said: "I've started yoga which I'm really enjoying. The main thing is my food, I've wanted to eat more nutritious stuff than before because I'm just aware that it ain't just about me anymore. I'm just a kind of carrier for this little being and I need to keep healthy.”

Atkinson’s return to the gym comes after she revealed she is expecting her first baby with Marquez, who she met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017.

The pair unveiled the news in a sweet post on Instagram with a little help from their pet dogs.

Atkinson posted a picture of Norman and Ollie brandishing signs which read: “Guess what… mum’s pregnant! We’re going to be big brothers!”

On Monday, the duo were all smiles as they left the Manchester studios for Hits Radio, where Atkinson works, after they were presented with gifts from colleagues following the exciting announcement.
