Gemma Atkinson shares daughter's adorable 'gym walking journey' as she pays Mother's Day tribute

Gemma Atkinson has shared her own unique Mother's Day tribute as she showed her fans her daughter's own little 'gym journey'.

The Hits Radio host is mum to Mia, two, who she shares with her Strictly Come Dancing star fiance Gorka Marquez. The pair met on the BBC One dance show back in 2017 but didn't begin dating until the start of the next year after going on the show's live arena tour.

Mia was born in July 2019 and Gemma has previously spoken out about her terrifying labour which saw the Bury-born star needing an emergency C-section when doctors realised Mia's heart rate had dropped and the new mum almost died when she lost nearly a litre of blood after suffering a from a haemorrhage.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Sunday morning, Gemma was heard asking her little girl if she wanted to go in the gym with her today. But Mia was pretty busy and needed to continue wiping her teddies and dolls first.

Gemma then went on to ask her what session she wanted to do today while she continued on cleaning up her toys but did say she 'fancied' a nice stretch today. The former Emmerdale star wrote alongside the video: "She loves coming in the gym. She actually learnt to walk in a gym," Gemma revealed.

She then went on to share various videos of Mia from a baby to now learning to walk in their home gym. It started with Gemma squatting up and down while holding Mia who was bobbing up and down with her. "From Day 1," she wrote on the clip before another showed her exploring the surroundings. "She loved it," Gemma said.

There was then a video of a tiny Mia in her pink babygrow standing up with a little wobble through her body as she steadied herself on a stick before wobbling over and falling onto her bottom with a smile on her face, right before getting back up again to try again. "Her learning to walk in there is one of my favourite memories," the presenter admitted.

The moment then came when Mia started to take her first steps. Gemma shared the video of the moment over Queen track 'We Are the Champions' and said: "And just like that she walked!!"

But back to today and Gemma videoed herself and Mia having a go at a few dumbbell squats, with Mia having her own toy version to match her mum. "I once read that 'our habits play a huge part of shaping their future," Gemma wrote before she cracked on with a bike session and Mia entertained herself with a whiteboard and pens.

Gemma then shared an old home video of her own mum feeding her as a baby. "Happy Mother’s Day to my mum Sandra. It’s only now looking back at old videos like this, I realise how much like you I am. I mean, this could be me and Mia for sure. Have a wonderful day! I love you!"

Former Emmerdale star Charley Webb, who has three sons with her co-star husband Matthew Wolfenden, was among those to comment, writing: "Oh, wow. That is you."

Earlier this week Gemma shared a glimpse into a fun-packed and busy day with her daughter as they enjoyed some mother and daughter time after the former Hollyoaks star took her little one along to a business meeting with her at fashion brand In The Style.

The pair stopped to enjoy a tub of ice cream in the sunshine, with Gemma asking 'am I allowed to have some?' and Mia grinning cheekily as she said she wasn't sharing. But she jokingly managed to grab a taste while distracting her by pointing out a passing bus.

She then posted a picture of the toddler in a salon chair having her nails painted pink. In the picture Mia, who was wearing a mini denim jacket and a cute pink rabbit T-shirt, was seated perfectly still with her hands extended as the bubblegum colour was applied.

Gemma was also left howling when she shared the brutally honest things people don't often tell mums-to-be. The 37-year-old is currently preparing for the launch of her second book, The Ultimate Body Plan for New Mums 12 Weeks to Finding You Again, next month and took to Instagram with a post from part of the book which said: "10 things no one tells you will happen after having a baby."
