Gemma Atkinson responds to critic who said she makes women 'feel bad about themselves'

Gemma Atkinson had the last laugh when she responded to those who claimed she 'won't get her body back' after having her first child.

The former Emmerdale actress took to social media to share a sassy video of her strutting her stuff in gym gear.

Alongside the post Gemma commented: "Them: You won’t get your body back. Me: That's cute hun..."

Friends and fans were quick to applaud the stars hard work after welcoming daughter Mia Louise Marquez with Strictly pro Gorka in July last year.

Fellow Hits Radio presenter Fleaur East commented: "Savage!!! Absolutely love this!!!"

"Yaaaaas smashed it," Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn added before Gorka teased: "You're welcome," alongside the heart eye and laughing emojis.

But Gemma was forced to respond after a follower claimed that she makes women "feel bad" about themselves.

The message, which the 35-year-old shared to her Instagram story, said: "Your post about getting your body back. Well done. You have succeeded in making every other woman who follows you feel bad about themselves. Some of us have no family to rely on so we can['t] go to the gym.

"Some of us have mental health issues that prevent us from leaving the house to attend the gym, or even find the energy to do a home workout. But hey, go post a video of you looking amazing and swish your hair. "

It continued: "I looked to you for support in losing baby weight. Now I will unfollow you because you have undermined all that you went on about before you had Mia."

Responding the criticism, Gemma revealed the key piece of advice she'll give to her daughter when she is older: ""Wow. As humans are we supposed to hide or play down any of our achievements, accomplishments or talents to make other people feel good? Am I missing something?

"All my life I've wanted to play piano. I can't. Does that entitle me to give John Legend [expletive] for posting a clip of him doing it?

"One thing I will always, always tell Mia, is to never let anyone dull your sparkle my darling."

Other fans, however, were quick to praise the Bury star.

"Strong and a positive role model," said one.

Another added: "You look amazing well done!"

"You wouldn’t want your body 'back' - your body has now grown the most incredible little person and is ten times more appreciated than you ever have! It’s a bonus that you’re able to look as amazing as this," a third said.

With another commenting: "You never lost your body. It just changed to accommodate a human.
