Gemma Atkinson responds to 'aggressive' messages after she reached out for parenting advice

Gemma Atkinson has responded to 'aggressive messages' after she reached out for tips as she prepares for the arrival of her second child. Hits Radio presenter Gemma, whose daughter Mia with Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez turns four in July, said she was 'mentally trying to prepare' for baby number two as well as Mia starting school.

"I finish work in 2 weeks," she told her followers on Instagram. "I’m mentally trying to prepare myself for this level of exhaustion again but around an actual school run for Mia while Gorka will be away filming Strictly. S***s getting real!" she exclaimed jokingly with a crying-laughing emoji.

And she asked, along with a selection of gorgeous throwback snaps of herself with Mia as a baby: "Any tips on the jump from 1 to 2 as well as the first starting school. Greatly appreciated."

Gemma, 38, from Bury, later took to Instagram Stories to thank fans for sharing their own stories and tips with her. But the former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star also received some nasty messages in response to her message.

"Thanks for all your tips and stories! On my grid, love reading them," she said. "Seems majority of advice is: 1. Don't put pressure on things to be perfect 2. Routine is key! 3. A sling is a must 4. Accept help and enjoy the ride!"

And she added: "PS. to the odd aggressive few telling me to get a grip and realise how blessed I am. Sending love and I hope your circumstances change and you find your happiness."

Gemma today (Monday, May 8) admitted that she was in a "little bit of a predicament" over Mia's birthday coming up soon. "Fourth of July of course, Miss Independent," she said.

She said she didn't know what to do after Mia asked for an iPad and asked "am I being tight?" by saying no. "She's asked for an iPad and I've said no, because obviously everyone parents differently and I'm sure when there's two I'll be like 'have what you want'," she explained.

She added: "But she's so good with her books and her colours but she's sulked about it. And I think four is too young for us. Obviously everyone does it differently and she has one at my sister's and she has a little Nintedo Wii at my mum's. It's my stepdad's old one and I've said 'when you go there fine. But when you're with us and you come out for food and brunch or whatever it's colours, books.'"

She asked: "Four's too young isn't it? I don't know what to do." Gemma later updated to say the majority had agreed with her over saying no. "Some teachers have said 'no don't'" she said. "It's about looking at the screen," she explained. Gemma then joked that she was a 'sergeant major mum' as she said they have restricted telly time in their home.
