Gemma Atkinson leaves Hits Radio to go on maternity leave - and she 'couldn't be more proud' of what her body has accomplished

Gemma Atkinson was all smiles as she left the Hits Radio studios in Manchester after her final breakfast show.

The mum-to-be has presented her last breakfast show for the station before going on maternity leave - and she was joined by her co-host Dave Vitty, aka Comedy Dave, as she carried her gifts out of the building in Castlefield.

Gemma, who is expecting her first child this summer with professional dancer Gorka Marquez from Strictly Come Dancing, will switch to hosting the drive time show when she returns to Hits Radio.

The day before going on maternity leave she proudly shared a before and after pregnancy photos of herself in bikini.

Fitness fanatic Gemma , 34, told her Instagram followers: "Couldn’t be more proud of what my body has accomplished growing my little human. It’s my best PB ever!

"The changes are remarkable, especially in these last weeks. The fact my sister has done this three times astounds me, because I always thought I was the tough one."

"I gave birth just over 13 weeks ago. I miss my bump! Enjoy every moment," one fan told her.

"Amazing our bodies aren’t they!? I’m currently 34 weeks and the changes are weekly it’s crazy but amazing!!! I have so much respect for my body," said another.

Former Emmerdale actress Gemma, Dave and co-host Gethin Jones are stepping down after taking over the breakfast show at the re-branded station, formerly Key 103, last June.

After putting down her headphones she said on social media: "Officially on maternity leave! Love to say I’ll be doing the above but the reality is very different.

"Thank you for all the lovely messages regarding @hitsradiouk I’ll be back in the new year with a new show getting you home from work on drive time 4pm until 7pm, and it’s lovely to know you’ll all still be tuning in.

"Until then, I’m casually waiting for Baby Marquez to arrive and for the new chapter for me and Gorks to begin."
