Gemma Atkinson laughs off cruel comments about baby not being Gorka Marquez's as he says he 'can't relate' to fiancée

Gemma Atkinson has laughed off cruel comments that have suggested her unborn child isn't fathered by her fiance Gorka Marquez. The loved-up couple announced on Saturday (January 21) that they are expecting their second child together which they confirmed will be a boy.

Gemma and Gorka, who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 when Gemma was a contestant performing with Gorka's pal Aljaž Skorjanec, are already proud parents to their three-year-old daughter, Mia, who was born in July 2019 following a traumatic labour for both mum and baby.

Now the pair, who got engaged when Gorka popped the question on Valentine's Day in 2021, are expanding their brood and revealed the news on Instagram alongside a string of adorable snaps - with one showing Bury-born Gemma gazing at her blossoming bump before another showed little Mia resting her head on her mum's growing tummy.

Since then, Gemma has been offering little insights into her pregnancy so far on social media. However, the pregnancy chat has also been brought onto her Hits Radio show which she hosts alongside Mike Toolan. In a video posted to the radio station's Instagram account which Gemma also shared, the 38-year-old could be heard reading out some online comments in response to her happy family announcement.

After Gemma confirmed the fact that she’s "with child", Mike explained that they were going to read some of the not-so-nice comments posted about her news online. Gemma proceeded to share a remark made by someone about her body, saying: "This is one from a guy called Steve-O. [He says] ‘Well, that’s her body ruined,'" to which Gemma and Mike burst out laughing.

Gemma went on: “I’m assuming Steve-O was birthed at one point. What does his mother look like?” Sharing another comment, the former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale read: "Are we sure this baby’s even Gorka’s? The amount of fellas she had, it could be anyone's! Hope this relationship fails."

As Mike laughed, Gemma also saw the funny side and took the rather bizarre comments in her stride. In response to the clip, @stott_c1 commented: "Love how you just get on with it and ignore the haters," to which Gemma replied: "Got to laugh! They must really dislike themselves to have an account on a site just to type and send mean stuff. Who the hell has time for that? I can’t even wash my hair twice a week."

And others were also quick to applaud Gemma's response. @jackiefootitt shared: "Love how you laugh at the stupid jealous comments Gemma. Best way to do it." @littleicegem wrote: "I bloody love this, instead of hurting you, which is what they intended.. they've provided us all with a laugh. Haters make great comedians in a happy environment." @dustbinlyd19 added: "Gemma, you're amazing. Love the fact that you just crack on. Keep being you!"

Meanwhile, Gorka, 32, shared how he 'couldn't relate' to his fiancee as she reeled off a list of pregnancy symptoms as they relaxed in bed together. The professional dancer looked both amazed and concerned as his wife-to-be spoke about varicose veins, constipation and breast tenderness as she read from her phone.

"Your best bet now is to enjoy your time and rest when possible," Gemma read before adding: "Rest when you have a toddler? Oh well." She then looked at how her baby boy is currently growing inside her and how he was about to start 'pushing everything up'. "My intestines are going to be under my chin. I'll look like a Pelican."

Gorka didn't help as he referred to daughter Mia who compared her mum to one of the pigs from Peppa Pig. "Oh well, it's only until summer," Gemma said as Gorka replied: "I think you look flawless." Gemma then added: "It's all worth it." But in the caption of the clips, Gorka wrote: "Can't relate... but I am here to make nachos and guacamole for you," after Gemma showed off her cheesy bedtime snack.

Earlier this week Gemma confirmed that she is due in the summer, adding on her Hits Radio show: "Technically, your second can come quicker so I need to be prepared from early June really." But Mike was keen to know how long she'll still be at work for - and if she'll be coming back. "May/June but if you get on my nerves, I could leave, I guess, in two weeks if I wanted to," she said.

She then laughed and said: "Can you imagine? 'I'm going on maternity leave six months in advance.'" Mike then said: "I would miss you and you are coming back on this show?" To which Gemma honestly replied: "Definitely! I will definitely, definitely, come back but I just have to, you know, get a human out of me first," as laughter rang out again.
