Gemma Atkinson hits out at social-distancing flouters as she says four loved ones have had coronavirus

Gemma Atkinson has hit out at apparent social-distancing flouters as she reveals her own loved ones have contracted coronavirus.

The former Emmerdale star was left fuming over an image of people believed to be gathering for a funeral over the weekend.

She shared the image to her Instagram page and wrote: "Press call them covidiots. I call them selfish p****s!"

Gemma then spoke of her own experiences with the virus.

The 35-year-old continued to her 1.4m followers: "4 of my close family and a friend have suffered terribly with this virus!

"Bet your families are so proud of you," she ended the rant.

Gemma then followed up her post after she was contacted by one of her followers.

"I've had a DM from a policeman saying they have never had as much abuse as they get from 'covidiots' and a nurse wishing these people not following rules could see how much a covid patient struggles in their last few hrs of life," she said.

"Maybe then they would stay home... I'm so sorry for key /frontline workers."

The Bury actress is currently at home with her daughter Mia and partner, Strictly star Gorka Marquez.

Gemma has been sharing images and videos of the trio as they get used to life on lockdown.

She has also been keeping her followers updated on her fitness regime.
