Gemma Atkinson hits back after being criticised as 'lazy' for having a cleaner

Gemma Atkinson has clapped back after being criticised for having a cleaner.

The actress and Hits Radio presenter spoke out on Instagram after followers took a swipe at her.

Gemma, from Bury, gave a brilliant response after being branded 'lazy' for calling in a professional to help keep on top of her cleaning.

Followers grumbled after she shared a snap on Instagram Stories of a chocolate bear, flowers and a Christmas card left by her cleaner for Gemma, her fiance Gorka Marquez and their two-year-old daughter Mia.

She said: "Of all the things to get grief on on social. Today for me it's because I had a cleaner yesterday."

Reeling off the comments she quoted: "'I can't believe you don't do your own cleaning.' 'You're supposed to be a parent.' 'How lazy are you?' 'Think you've got your hands full, I clean my house every day.'"

Gemma replied: "I clean my house once, twice, sometimes three times a week.

"I have a child, two dogs and a guy. But once a month I have a deep clean from my cleaner."

In August she was challenged by her followers on social media after she shared a video clip of little Mia with her dummy in her mouth.

Gemma took to her Instagram Stories to say she'd received 'loads' of comments about the video.

And she said it didn't worry her at all that Mia still wanted her pacifier.

"B****y hell she's two. Am I f*****g hell worried. She wants her dummy. She's a baby," she said.

And Gemma, 37, was applauded after she revealed that Mia, who she welcomed in July 2019 with Strictly dancer Gorka, helps her out with chores around the house.

She shared video of her having a little help from her adorable toddler as she loaded up the washing machine.

Gemma, who presents the drive-time show on Manchester's Hits Radio, recently revealed that she's returning to the Channel Four soap Hollyoaks as Lisa Hunter.

She played the role until 2005 and the star was involved in a number of high-profile storylines that included bullying and self-harm.
