Gemma Atkinson explains why she won't be watching Gorka's first Strictly dance with Katie

Gemma Atkinson has revealed why she won't be watching her husband-to-be Gorka Marquez and his dance partner Katie McGlynn on Strictly Come Dancing tonight.

The actress and former Strictly contestant took to Instagram to share a post about hangovers being harder to deal with in your 30s than when you're in your 20s.

While on the subject, the 36-year-old said she will be at a party this evening, so will miss the first live Strictly show, as Express.co.uk reports.

In view of her 1.7 million followers, she wrote: "I'm at a 40th tonight so will miss these two smashing that Tango!

"I've seen it and it's ACE. Have the best time @katiexmcglynn @gorka_marquez."

Gorka and Katie will perform the routine to Griff's Black Hole.

It comes as the mother-of-one has shared her support for the pair in previous posts.

Following the news they will be dancing together, she shared a picture of the duo, writing: “Come on!”

Former Coronation Street star Katie said she could "be herself" within hours of meeting the professional dancer.

On getting close to Gorka for dances, she said: "I know it’s not exactly the same, but because I’m an actress, I have to kiss people a lot… well not a lot."

The dancer swiftly chimed in: "You don’t kiss in dancing."

She replied, laughing: "No I know. But I’m used to being in awkward situations and I’m not awkward, I’m really chilled with stuff like that.

"So we’ll just ramp it up and then when we get off probably laugh," Katie added to The Sun.

She told Express.co.uk: "I’ll be proud of him for teaching someone else to dance.

“I’ll be passing the baton, so to speak.

"I do hope that whoever he gets is in Manchester so that I can go into training sessions and tell her what she’s doing wrong,” she laughed.
