Recently, Google hosted its I/O 2025 event, where the company announced a host of new features and tools. One such was the Gemini Live coming to smartphones. It will be available for both Android and iOS devices.
According to the company, average conversations are five times longer than text-based conversations. That’s because Gemini Live offers new ways to get help, whether it’s troubleshooting a broken appliance or getting personalized shopping advice.
Currently, the app has camera and screen-sharing capabilities on both OSs. However, Google will release more features in the future. The company is also starting to integrate Google Maps, Calendar, Tasks, and Keep with more of Google ecosystems.
So, for example, if you are going out for dinner, the app can drop the reservation straight into Calendar. Ask about late‑night pizza, and the app will pull fresh results from Maps.
Moreover, the Gemini Live rollout lands inside the existing Gemini app, so there’s no extra download. Just tap the new camera or screen‑share icon, talk it through, and the AI will see what you see in real-time. Google framed the launch as part of a broader push to make its Gemini suite “more personal, proactive and powerful” across every surface.
NotebookLM Comes to Mobile, Too
Gemini Live is not the only product to get a mobile variant. Recently, the tech giant unveiled the global rollout of its popular NotebookLM app. It is also available for Android and iOS users and comes with the popular “Audio Overview” feature. It also allows you to download AI‑generated summaries for offline listening.
Furthermore, the app also comes with the new system-level share feature, which allows you to send a webpage, PDF, or YouTube video straight into a notebook without leaving the current app. Google also stated that the company is working on new features to add to the app and is actively looking for feedback on X and Discord to guide the next round of updates.
