Google has announced new AI-powered video creation tools inside Gemini and Flow. It can turn your simple static photos into short videos, too, with sound. The new capabilities are now available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in select countries.
The new features allow you to turn your photos into an eight-second video with a single prompt. It also allows you to add sound to the video by giving audio instructions. The feature is now live at gemini.google.com and rolling out gradually.
This new photo-to-video feature builds on Veo 3, which is the most advanced video generation model from the company, launched a couple of months ago. It has been an absolute success for the company. If we go by the shared press releases from the company, more than 40 million videos across Gemini and Flow have been created in just seven weeks. People are using it for everything from animating paintings and drawings to creating ASMR scenes like slicing through lava.
To try the tool, you need to select “Videos” in the prompt box, upload an image, and describe the scene, including any sounds that you want to add. Once processed, the video can be shared or downloaded directly.
Speech Generation Comes to Flow
The tech giant is also upgrading its AI filmmaking tool, Flow, with the all-new voice generation feature. It allows you to add speech when using the “Frames to Video” feature, which turns still images into short video clips.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that the speech generation feature is still experimental so that the quality may vary. But it adds one more creative tool for video makers using Flow. Google is also making this feature available on Veo 3 Fast, allowing you to generate videos more quickly using fewer credits.
Along with these new features, Google has expanded access to Flow and the Ultra subscription tier to 76 more countries. Flow is now available in over 140 countries worldwide.
Though it’s not like the company is only focusing on AI. Google recently launched a new “Manage subscriptions” feature, which allows you to group all your active subscriptions in one place, making it easier to review and unsubscribe from newsletters, deals, and promotional emails you no longer care about.
