'Gem of a boy' Body found in Scots woodland confirmed as missing man Dean Lockhart as tributes paid

A body found in a Scots woodland has been formally identified as missing man Dean Lockhart, police have confirmed.

The remains of 36-year-old Dean Lockhart were discovered around 4pm on Wednesday, September 22, near Munlochy.

He had been reported missing after last being seen in the Ross and Cromarty village around 9.30am on Tuesday, September 21.

Tributes from family and friends poured in on social media, referring to him as a 'great, amazing man' and an 'absolute gent.'

One person wrote: "Dean Lockhart was such a great, amazing man.

"I've been shedding countless tears for Dean hearing this awful news.

"Dean was an amazing father and an amazing cousin to talk to that would listen anytime of day.

"Rest in Peace, Dean. So many people love, miss and mourn for you."

Another person commented: "RIP Dean, so sad, you where a gem of a boy.

"Great memories when I used to visit building bonfires at the end of the street. You will be sadly missed."

One user added: "I can't even put into words how heartbroken we are for the entire Lockhart family.

"Dean Lockhart was an absolute gent, a fantastic son, brother and an amazing father."

Someone else said: "Heartbreaking to hear the sad news of Dean Lockhart.

"One of life’s gentlemen too."

Now, a fundraiser has been set up to help support Dean's family.

The GoFundMe page reads: "Dean Lockhart was taken too soon. He lit up every room he was in, he was a gentleman with a big personality and the world is a worse off place without him. He will be sadly missed by everyone.

"This fundraiser is to help lift the financial burden that comes with the likes of funeral costs on his family. Any amount big or small is appreciated and will no doubt be appreciated by the family.

"The Lockhart clan are amongst the greatest people on earth. We are all with you, just like you all would be for so many others. No one can imagine the heartbreak you are all feeling. Hopefully this can help in a small way.

"May you rest in peace Dean. Faugh A Ballagh."

In less than 24 hours of being created, it has already raised over half of its £1,000 target.

Last night Police Scotland confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
