Gelston Primary School ready for annual fun run and fete on Sunday, June 9

Gelston Primary School is getting set for its annual fun run and fete on Sunday.

And the fun filled afternoon for the school and local community promises to be a great family day out.

Organised by the school parent partnership, the programme kicks off with the fun run at 12 noon.

Participants will be able to enjoy a beautiful mile-long route around Gelston Castle Estate, by kind permission of the Scott family.

Parent council member Dawn Campbell said: “It really is a stunning setting for those wish to walk or for those more competitive who wish to run.

“There is also a longer route for those over eight.

“Registration on the day is from 11.30am in the village hall.

“Everyone is welcome, entry fees are £4 for adult and £2 for children.”

The fete at the school will follow the fun run with lots on offer including a BBQ, refreshments, bouncy castle, auction, duck race and face painting.

A variety of stalls, tombola, games and entertainment will also feature.

Mrs Campbell said: “We hold a raffle at the event which has kindly been supported by local businesses and the school.

“We would like to thank all those offers of help, donations and sponsorship from businesses and the local community.”

She added: “This really is a wonderful family day out not to be missed, so please come along and support your local school.”

Anyone wishing to help out should contact the school office on 01556 502415.
