A global automotive logistics firm has expanded its Merseyside footprint by opening a huge new centre in Liverpool - creating 140 jobs in the process.
GEFCO has announced the €6.4m investment with its client Jaguar Land Rover - marking a "new chapter" in the companies' relationship.
The new, 176,000sq ft logistics sequencing centre in Speke "reaffirms GEFCO's commitment to driving forward investment and manufacturing in the region", the firm said.

Cedric Chacon, managing director at GEFCO UK, said: “This is another major milestone in both the growth of our automotive sequencing capabilities and in our relationship with our valued partners at JLR.
"The project represents a significant investment by GEFCO and its partners into what is a strategically important location for us, and indeed for the UK automotive sector.
"We are excited to be able to grow our presence in Merseyside as well as support the local economy, strengthen manufacturing capabilities in the region and deliver major job opportunities for local communities.”
The centre was officially opened during an inauguration ceremony which took place on September 30 followed by an event celebrating 40 years of GEFCO operations in the UK, attended by senior management from across the GEFCO Group.
The facility will be responsible for receiving and processing 400 different commodities from JLR’s global supply chain.
From the centre, parts will be decanted, repacked, quality checked, and distributed to JLR’s manufacturing hubs.
GEFCO currently operates two sites in and around Merseyside. The new facility will be operated by GEFCO as part of a lease running to 2028.
