Geena Davis's jackboots

Thursday night on ABC's not-quite-hit show Commander-in-Chief, about the first woman president (an area in which the US is decades behind the UK), President Mackenzie Allen (played by Geena Davis) sends federal officers into a predominantly black Washington suburb to counter a crime wave. The attorney general tells her that press reaction to the unusual federal intrusion has been mixed and that "bloggers are calling you a fascist in jackboots". I have a feeling he was talking about my friends Gene Healy and Radley Balko.

Footnote: The show's portrayal of high crime rates in Prince George's County, Maryland, caused "an explosion of anger" among community leaders.
