Gedling General Election 2019 result in full

The fourth-most marginal seat in the county has been won by the Conservatives.

Long-serving Labour MP and former head teacher Vernon Coaker has been beaten by Conservative Tom Randall.

Mr Coaker secured 22,039 votes compared to Mr Randall's 22,718.

At the last General Election in 2017, Labour achieved 26,833 votes compared to the Conservatives' 22,139.

Labour therefore won with a majority of 4,694.

Tom Randall, Conservative, was hoping to claw more votes from Labour this time around and he did just that.

In the referendum, 55.6 percent of people who voted chose to Leave.

Standing this year was also Graham Hunt from the Brexit Party, Jim Norris from The Green Party and Anita Prabhakar for the Liberal Democrats.

Final candidate list:

Vernon Coaker, Labour - 22,039

Graham Hunt, Brexit Party - 1,820

Jim Norris, The Green Party - 1,097

Anita Prabhakar, Liberal Democrat - 2,279

Tom Randall, Conservative - 22,718
