Gedling chief executive to stand down after just 16 months

The most senior officer at Gedling Borough Council is moving on, just over a year after she joined the Labour-run council.

Chief Executive Karen Bradford secured a new role as Chief Executive of South Kesteven District Council in Lincolnshire and will be leaving her current role in the near future.

She joined Gedling Borough Council from North Kesteven District Council in September 2018.

She said: “It has been a privilege to have worked for Gedling Borough Council and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at the authority.

“Opportunities like this are few and far between and it wasn’t one I was expecting, however, I have made the difficult decision to take the role as it is the right one to take for me and my personal circumstances.

“I will now focus on giving my full support to the leadership to begin the process of finding my replacement.”

Councillor Michael Payne is the deputy leader of the council, and represents the Redhill ward for Labour.

He said: “We wish Karen every success in her new role and I would like to thank her for the leadership she has shown since her appointment.

“Her experience and contribution has helped place the council in a very strong position, which prides itself on delivering excellent, high quality services to our local communities in spite of the financial challenges it faces.”
