GCSE results 2019 the ultimate survival kit

It's the day thousands of teenagers across Northern Ireland have been waiting for - GCSE results day .

For lots of you, it will be a great day to celebrate, while for others there might be some disappointment to deal with.

But chin up and best foot forward, because all the excitement is still to come.

Here's how to get through the day whatever happens..

Plan your day carefully

Before you head to pick up that all important envelope eat a good breakfast to keep you going all day, and plan out what you are going to wear, especially for all those happy photos.

Think about transport. How will you get there? Leaving things to the morning of the results will add another layer of anxiety, therefore it's important to plan ahead.

If you're feeling nervous, anxious or frightened for you results why not ask for the support of a parent, close friend or relative?

Support will be available from specialists on the day, so always keep this in mind at every step as they know what they're talking about.

What if things don't go to plan?

It's important not to panic on the day if you don't get the top grades you wished for.

However, do seek advice from a professional about the next step forward. They will help to give any other alternative options available to you.

You're not on your own. Your teachers will help you organise this.

For instance you may best considering an alternative career path such as

-studying a BTEC level subject

-apprenticeship opportunities

-finding a job in a workplace based on your qualifications

What about College?

Going back to school may not be the plan for you. Why not look into studying A levels at a college like Belfast Met ?

It's finally time to celebrate your results with friends and family.

For those who didn't do as well as you thought, don't worry it is not the end, there are many more ways to succeed in your future career path.

And whatever you've done, getting through your GCSEs is a fantastic achievement and a major milestone in your life, so well done.
