GCC: Negotiations with Iran Must Cover Nuclear File, Missiles Program

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Nayef al-Hajraf.

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Nayef al-Hajraf said on Wednesday that “any future negotiations with Iran should cover its ballistic missiles and nuclear file.”

Speaking at the conclusion of a meeting of Gulf foreign ministers in Riyadh, he added: “Iran continues to support the Houthi militias and destabilize the region.”

The meeting was held to follow up on the implementation of the agreements reached at the AlUla summit that was held in Saudi Arabia in January.

On Yemen, Hajraf said that the council supports efforts of the legitimate authority to resolve the crisis there according to the three references: the Gulf initiative, national dialogue and United Nations Security Council resolution 2216.

Moreover, he urged the need to activate the joint military mechanism of the GCC, stressing that the council stands by Saudi Arabia and “all the measures it takes to preserve its security.”

“The security of Gulf states is indivisible,” he stressed.

On the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Hajraf remarked that the Palestinian cause remains the top priority for the Arab world and that a Palestinian state must be established based on the 1967 borders.
