A GB News presenter has been mocked on social media after claiming he was knocked back from a Glasgow bar ‘due to his accent’.
Tom Harwood says he attempted to visit Firewater in the city’s Sauchiehall Street during a night off from reporting on the COP26 summit on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old claims that his ‘Glaswegian friends’ were allowed entry into the venue, but the door staff allegedly refused to let him in.
Writing on Twitter, the right-wing political pundit from Cambridge claimed that this was ‘solely because of his accent’.

He said: “Bouncer rejected me from a bar, from what I - and my Glaswegian friends - can make out, seemingly solely because of my accent.
“Have to say, it’s the most hostile Glasgow has felt in a full week. Nationalism is a hell of a drug.”
The presenter has since been mocked on Twitter over his claims, with the tweet racking up more than 3,000 likes.
Scottish Labour MSP for Glasgow Pam Duncan-Glancy responded: “Naw, they never.”
The Chase’s Paul Sinha also wrote: “If it’s 23.41 on a Saturday night in Glasgow and you’re able to get your phone out and tweet “nationalism is one hell of a drug”, you’ve not been doing Glasgow right.
“I’m a privately educated English/Asian gay atheist Hindu. And in 25 years of drinking in Glasgow, never faced any bouncer bias. Brilliant city.”
Former SNP councillor Rosa Zambonini said: “Later in this thread, he says he was in a “suit” - babe, I can one hundred percent assure you ye canny go into Firewater in a suit and you wouldn’t want to, you’d be sweating yer tie aff…who has ever gone into Firewater in a suit (do yer research).”
After news of Mr Harwood’s ‘rejection’ from Firewater went viral, the club tweeted about its Sunday night event.
They went on to write: “See you on the dancefloor, unless you’re Tom Harwood.”
The bar then changed its profile picture to the one taken by the journalist following the alleged knock back - adding the hashtags #TomHarwood and #PhotoCredit.
The Daily Record has approached Firewater for comment.
