Gazza insists he is 'safe and well' after video emerges of Rangers legend pleading for cocaine

has insisted he is safe and well after a heartbreaking video showed him pleading for cocaine.

The video uploaded to social media shows Gazza asking a fan for cocaine and insisting he will pay him.

The former player took to Twitter to thank fans for their support a day after the clip emerged online.

He said:"Guys thanks 4 [for] all your support & messages.

I love you all from the bottom of my heart.

"I'm well&safe thanks2 SHANE @ Shanewh1tfield see u all soon LOVE GAZZA XXXXXXXX"

In the footage is seen preparing to pose for a photograph with a fan who says: "My hero, Newcastle, Tottenham, England number eight."

As soon as he stops talking, can be heard saying: "Cocaine."

The fan appears to be shocked and answers: "I could em, I could ask."

Then replies: "Please, I'll pay."

It is not known when or where the clip was recorded but it was uploaded to Twitter by user Jamrock1986 yesterday afternoon.

After the video appeared online many fans took to social media to offer their support and urged the former England star to get help.
