Gazza enjoys Hand of God joke at Peter Shilton's expense as he remembers Maradona

Paul Gascoigne enjoyed a cheeky dig at former England teammate Peter Shilton as he remembered late Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona.

The Geordie former England and Newcastle star was invited onto Good Morning Britain alongside ex-England goalie Peter Shilton, as the world mourns Maradona's death at the age of 60.

Maradona famously scored with his hand against Shilton during the 1986 World Cup Quarter Final, which Argentina won. Shilton has never forgiven Argentina's then number 10 for the 'Hand of God', but Gazza was more than happy to crack a joke about it.

Gazza paid tribute to Maradona, saying: "He was an icon, wasn't he?

"I mean, I know a lot of people talk about the Hand of God, it made Peter Shilton anyway.

"Shilts, it made you, that goal."

Good Morning Britain hosts Ben Shepherd and Susanna Reid cracked up at Gazza's jibe, but Shilton appeared less than impressed.

Shilton replied: "Thanks for that, Gazza, I did play for another 20 years after that."

Former Rangers and Boro man Gazza also reminisced about playing a friendly against Maradona, while Gazza was at Lazio.

Gazza told ITV he had a few drinks on the plane to the game, before admitting to the Argentinian World Cup Winner that he felt tipsy as they prepared to walk onto the pitch.

Gazza said: "He told me, it's okay Gazza, so am I."
