Gayle King sent support after receiving death threats for mentioning Kobe Bryant's rape case

Hollywood stars have come out in support of Gayle King after the journalist received death threats for mentioning the late Kobe Bryant’s rape case in a new interview.

The CBS This Morning co-anchor has been threatened since discussing Bryant’s sexual assault allegation, in an interview about the basketball player with WNBA star Lisa Leslie.

Mia Farrow, Kathy Griffin and Erika Alexander are among the actors who have tweeted messages of solidarity for King, with the hashtag #IStandWithGayle.

“2 b clear #IStandWithGayle it’s not all right to threaten @GayleKing or anybody bcause u don’t agree w them (sic),” wrote Living Single and Black Lightning star Alexander. “The comments & videos being played r not ok. But It’s not 2 late to make a different choice. So make a different choice. Xo. e. #lovetakesaction #standwithblackwomen.”

Comedian Griffin wrote: “Agree. I will always stand up for you. And I fearlessly and proudly say #IStandWithGayle.”

Actor Mia Farrow also showed her support, by retweeting a post that reads: “When you are a black woman in this country, you feel threatened, and many times people don’t stand up for you. #IStandWithGayle.”

Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others in January.

After CBS posted a clip from King’s interview with Leslie online last week, some were critical of the fact that she asked about his 2003 sexual assault case so soon after his death.

Rapper Snoop Dogg warned King to “back off b**** before we come get you”. He has since insisted he is a “non-violent person”.
