Gayle King's stunning mansion hosting Meghan Markle's bombshell chat with Oprah

Gayle King 's stunning California mansion is the backdrop for the interview of the year that features The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 's bombshell chat with Oprah Winfrey is set to air in the US on Sunday night, with viewers in the UK getting their fix of royal drama the following night.

Since leaving their royal duties last year, the pair - along with their son Archie - leaped across the pond to the actress' motherland which they both now call home.

Their famous departure has caused tension and friction with other royals, which Meghan and Harry are gearing up to spill all to the US host.

The interview - which will air in 68 countries - is expected to lift the lid on Harry and Meghan's short period as working royals together before they stepped down for a life in America.

And while many thought the hotly anticipated interview took place at Meghan and Harry's $14.5million Montecito home, CBS This Morning host Gayle actually offered up her garden's picturesque views for the programme.

Gayle and Oprah have been best friends for years, so offering up her beautiful home to ensure privacy was a no-brainer.

Oprah and Meghan sit in a private courtyard in the garden surrounded by grand stone pillars.

Though there's little information about Gayle's luxury property, she recently gave fans a sneak peek inside her home.

The property boasts a stylish living room that's filled with eye-catching artwork which definitely cost a pretty penny.

A stunning beautiful floral arrangement is proudly displayed in the star's living room, as well as a handful of striking sculptures that could be seen dotted around the stylish space.

It's safe to say Gayle is somewhat of an art enthusiast, as some of the pricy items cost upwards of thousands of dollars.

The journalist's living room features a pop of colour, with lettuce green furniture, doors and ceilings adorning the room.

Oprah's best friend Gaye King said on CBS' This Morning that the interview was filmed at one of their friend's homes, despite speculation that it was filmed at either Harry and Meghan's Los Angeles home or Oprah's mansion.

Gayle said: "They taped at a friend's home. People said it was at Oprah's house or Harry and Meghan's, [but] it was at a friend's home."

Gayle also said the interview was the "best" thing Oprah has ever done.

She added: "She believes it's the best she's ever done and she said it wasn't just her though, it was because the conversation apparently was so candid with all three of them.

"They all look comfortable sitting talking to one another."
