A gay DJ and his fiancé say they faced homophobic abuse while they were shopping for aftershave in a London department store and were bullied out of the shop.
London-based DJ Reggie Taylor, who goes by the alias Fat Tony, and his fiancé David Graham were shopping in the Victoria branch of House of Fraser when they noticed a female shop assistant “smirking” at them, according to The Evening Standard.
The Ministry of Sound DJ who has partied with the likes of Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Boy George, approached a saleswoman who “kissed her teeth” and denied having any issue with the pair. A security guard overheard the disagreement and reportedly called Mr Tailor a “batty man”.
The couple talked to a manager. They say two more security guards and another sales assistant then threw more abuse at them.
The manager allegedly asked the guard to leave, but the couple say he then also asked Mr Tailor and his fiance to leave the shop.
Mr Tailor tweeted his anger on 29 December and had not heard back by the next day. He tweeted his frustration to the department store.
A House of Fraser spokesperson tweeted: "We are very disappointed to hear a member of our staff has allegedly been abusive to a customer. We take these allegations seriously and are investigating thoroughly."
A spokesman reportedly told Pink News: "At House of Fraser, we do not tolerate any type of verbal or physical abuse."
