Gavin Williamson breaks his silence by posting a picture with some dogs

Gavin Williamson has broken his silence with a picture of some dogs.

The ex-Defence Secretary posted online for the first time since he and Theresa May exchanged letters discussing his departure from the Cabinet last night.

And Mr Williamson appears to be enjoying a little dog therapy after being unceremoniously sacked.

Along with a picture of him with two dogs, he wrote: "When you have had a pretty tough week it’s rather nice to get out and about with some really good company."

It's unclear who the dogs belong to.

Mr Williamson has frequently declared himself a dog lover, and regularly posts pictures of himself with canines of various descriptions.

But he's said in the past that he doesn't have a dog of his own.

He does, however, have a pet Tarantula called Cronus.

Cronus is named after a Greek God who castrated his father before eating his children.
