Gavin & Stacey star Mathew Horne surprised fans when he appeared at Glastonbury Festival this weekend, trying to stay low-key as he joined his rarely seen wife Celina Bassili just one year after the couple reportedly welcomed their first child.
The 46-year-old actor, best known for playing Gavin Shipman in the beloved BBC sitcom, was spotted by fellow revellers enjoying a quiet breakfast with Bassili on Saturday morning at Worthy Farm.
Horne, dressed down in a black top, shorts and cap, kept a low profile - but his distinctive voice gave him away, according to one onlooker.

“Mat has grown his hair so he was almost unrecognisable,” they said. “But then you hear his voice and there was no doubt it was him.”
The actor, whose return to the small screen in last year’s Gavin & Stacey Christmas special drew more than 18 million viewers, was overheard discussing band choices for the day with his wife. The couple appeared relaxed and content, taking in the atmosphere away from the spotlight.
Horne’s reemergence at the UK’s biggest music festival comes after it was revealed that he and Bassili had become parents.

The pair tied the knot in secret in September 2021 at a 1930s mansion in Norway, where set designer Bassili is originally from.
The birth of their son was kept private, with only close friends and former castmates, including Corden and Joanna Page, said to be in the know.
A source previously told The Sun: "Mathew is a brilliant dad and he and Celina love being parents."
Bassili, a first-class honours graduate in set design from University of the Arts London, worked on the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special where the pair first became romantically linked in 2019.
They were spotted kissing during filming, confirming Horne’s split from actress Evelyn Hoskins, to whom he had previously been engaged.

While Corden went on to find fame in Hollywood and on American late-night TV, Horne chose a more private path, stepping away from celebrity life. His quiet Glastonbury outing was in stark contrast to some of the starrier festival appearances.
“Considering how big a name he is, there was no fanfare,” one festival-goer said. “It was refreshing to see someone so famous just blending in with the crowd.”
Bassili later shared a series of photos and videos on Instagram documenting their weekend at Worthy Farm, including a sweet selfie of the pair soaking up the sunshine.
