Gavin & Stacey star Larry Lamb says it would be 'short-sighted' not to have another episode of the BBC hit

Gavin & Stacey star Larry Lamb has said it would be 'short-sighted' if there were to be no more episodes of the Ruth Jones and James Corden-created comedy.

In an interview with Metro about his new film, Brighton, the Mick Shipman actor said that the show, which ran from 2007 to 2010 and returned for a Christmas special in 2019, changed his life.

When asked if he thought there would be more episodes, Larry said: "I think it would be pretty short-sighted if there wasn't.

"I'd be happy to do more. Everybody that's involved with it sees it as a team event. If they're doing more, you're part of it."

He reveals that the Gavin & Stacey cast have a What's App group, but the team are busy with other projects.

Larry also spoke about being recognised as both Mick and Archie Mitchell from EastEnders, but it's Mick that people know him for more and the opportunities given to him by both the shows are irreplaceable.

He said: "I’ve had people say to me, ‘You were in EastEnders – were you Dirty Den?’ But I get recognised much more as Mick Shipman from Gavin & Stacey.

"It has such a huge audience. Those two shows changed my life completely and meant I could do a lot of things I’d always really wanted to do. I’m a history nut and I was doing history programmes and things for The One Show.

"I also did a travel show with my son George, interviews, game shows, being a celebrity. I was busy all the time but very little acting. It was a welcome change in my career."

Recently fellow Gavin & Stacey star Rob Brydon said he has to stop talking about the show coming back (or not) as it gets him in trouble, he also revealed on his podcast that he convinced Ruth Jones to not give up on her acting career.

It was revealed last week that Brydon and Jones will team up once more for a BBC sitcom, Ray and Gaynor.
