Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page, 44, expecting fourth child in 'surprise' pregnancy

Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page has announced the happy news that she is expecting her fourth child with a "surprise" pregnancy.

The mum-of-four, who plays Stacey in the iconic BBC comedy series, took to social media to reveal that she is pregnant with her fourth child with husband James Thornton.

"Well, this is a surprise!!," the 44-year-old began her caption to her 83400 thousand Instagram followers on Monday.

"Baby number 4 on the way! It's going to be a busy Christmas!"

The mum-to-be looked radiant and glowing as she posed for a picture surrounded by plants and a wheelbarrow, with a flowing white dress showing off a hint of a growing baby bump.

Fans and celebrity pals were quick to flood Joanna's comment section with messages of congratulation following the big reveal.

"Oh wow, lovely news," Emmerdale actress Charley Webb wrote, while TV presenter Denise Van Outen said: "Aw, congratulations" alongside a red love-heart emoji.

Former Coronation Star Catherine Tyldesley was also amongst the famous faces wishing the Gavin and Stacey star well, commenting: "congratulations xx"

Fearne Cotton added a red love-heart emoji underneath the announcement, as one fan quipped: "You look amazing!!! You are definitely going to be busy!"

Joanna and husband James already share three children: Eva, seven, Kit, five, and Noah, four.

The actress hinted that she would possibly end up raising a family of four back in 2014, when she was then a mother-of-one to then 17-month-old daughter Eva.

"James is one of four so to him, four children is the norm," she told Sunday Express’ S magazine seven years ago.

"For me, one is the norm but I can see how people get addicted to having babies. I would like to keep going and try to pop out as many as possible – I only wish I’d started having them younger.”

More recently, the Swansea-born star confessed that while she may appear in one of the country's best-loved comedies, her three children find talk of Gavin and Stacey “boring”.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, the Love Actually actress explained that she had recently introduced her offspring to the show that made her a household name.

“We were flicking through the channels and the first ever Christmas special was on. Eva was like, ‘Oh my gosh Mummy, it’s you!’, she told us in November 2020.

“They couldn’t believe it – they were so excited. They thought it was hilarious that I was in it, and was married to someone called Gavin.”

Written by pals Ruth Jones and James Corden, Gavin and Stacey first aired back in 2007, with the most recent Christmas special gracing our TV screens in 2019.

While many across the country may still love to chat about the hit BBC comedy, not everyone in Joanna's household is keen to talk about the show.

Whenever Gavin and Stacey pops up in conversation at home, Joanna revealed that oldest child Eva’s response is blunt: “Oh God, you’re not going on about that Gavin & Stacey again are you Mummy? It’s so boring.”
