Gavin & Stacey's Joanna Page popped in for a Joe's ice cream in Mumbles and everyone was starstruck

One of the stars of Gavin & Stacey stopped by Joe's Ice Cream in Mumbles over the weekend, much to the delight of staff and customers.

Following the phenomenal success of the Christmas special, Joanna Page, 42, originally from Treboeth , Swansea, who plays Stacey in the hit series, headed to the popular ice cream parlour with her family on Saturday.

According to staff at the shop, she visits the Mumbles outlet a few times a year, but this was the first since Gavin & Stacey made its Christmas comeback, watched by more than 17 million viewers, making it the most viewed Christmas special since Only Fools and Horses in 2002.

Rhiannon Frayne, 23, a staff member at Joe's, managed to grab a selfie with the actress.

She said: "She's quite a regular here but this was the first time since the Christmas episode and everyone loved it so much, you could hear everyone muttering that it was Stacey.

"She was so lovely. She spent time talking to the staff and customers, it was so surreal as she sounds exactly the same in real life as she does in the show."

Joanna, who appeared in 2003 film Love Actually, is best known for her role in BBC hit comedy Gavin & Stacey, which ran from 2007-2010. In the ten-year break from the programme, she had three children and took on many acting and voice over roles.

Rhiannon added: "It was so lovely to have her in the parlour with her family. Customers and staff were so excited, even afterwards about her visit - it really brightened everyone's day."
