Loving dad Gavin Moon was knifed to death by callous Brian Goldsmith and Luc Barker.
And the pair left the 31-year-old's body lying on the floor for 24 hours.
Newcastle Crown Court heard how both Barker and Goldsmith used a large knife to fatally wound Gavin following a disturbance at the flat he had been temporarily sharing with Barker, in Washington.
They both then left and did not contact police until the following day.
Neighbours heard the sound of a man gasping, someone saying "you thieving scumbag ****" repeatedly and someone laughing and saying "do you think someone's going to phone the police, no one is f****** coming", during the frenzied attack on January 7, 2019.
Barker, 29, of Trafalgar Road, Washington, and Goldsmith, 47, of Wayman Street, Sunderland, had denied murder but were convicted by a jury.
A judge sentenced both defendants to life in prison, with a minimum term of 18 years for Goldsmith, and 16 years for Barker.
