Gavin James shares heartbreak over death of uncle Paddy due to coronavirus

Irish singer Gavin James has shared his heartbreak following the death of his uncle Paddy due to Covid-19.

The For You hitmaker, 28, revealed that he sadly lost his uncle to coronavirus last week.

And as current restrictions mean many of those close to the family may not have been able to attend the funeral, he said he was blown away by the support of friends and neighbours who lined the streets to pay their respects.

The Dubliner said: “He was a wonderful man, full of stories, and was part of every inch of my family for all of his 95 years.

“[It was] an emotional sight seeing his whole street clapping as the hearse drove by his house.

“He had more friends and family than most. RIP.”

Earlier this month Gavin appeared on the Late Late Show reaching out to viewers to donate to Irish charity ALONE.

His performance received over €160,000 in donations.

Thanking fans and viewers for their support, he said: “I’m so amazed at the generosity of our country.

“Even when everything seems so bleak, we still lend a helping hand. You’re all amazing.”
