Gavin James, Denise Chaila and the Two Johnnies among line up for trial festival in Royal Hospital Kilmainham with antigen tests set to play a role

The next major trial event in Ireland's reopening plan has it's lineup announced as well as a venue change.

Gavin James will headline the night which includes Denise Chaila, Lyra, Sharon Shannon, Wild Youth and Wyvern Lingo.

For comedy fans, the Two Johnnies will also feature.

Crucially, the event will have rapid testing, 3,500 fans in attendance and social distancing - but only at one metre.

The news was announced by Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Catherine Martin this afternoon.

The festival takes place at Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin on July 3.

Speaking after the announcement was made, Gavin James said: "I’ve never got the chance to play at the Royal Kilmainham Hospital and I’m so happy to get to share the stage with all of these amazing Irish artists.

"It’s been a long 15 months of no gigs so myself, the crews, all of the other artists, and everyone involved in this are over the moon to get to go back to work! Also ... there’s gonna be beer!

"SO THERE WILL BE A BIG AUL PARTY IN DUBLIN NEXT WEEK."

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am.

It comes after Ireland's first trial gig involving James Vincent McMorrow and Sorcha Richardson in the Iveagh Gardens.

This weekend, Christy Moore will play an indoor concert in the Gleneagle in Killarney to a packed crowd.
