Gavin DeGraw wipes out after singing anthem at Predators-Stars game

Gavin DeGraw sang the national anthem ahead of Saturday’s Nashville Predators-Dallas Stars Game 5 matchup in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And it was great — until it wasn’t.

He received high praise from those at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and from hockey fans on the internet. His performance was so good, in fact, that you might say even he was swept off his own feet.

Singing on the ice, DeGraw was standing on a carpet purposefully brought out so those without skates don’t slip. But as the musician took a step back after the song ended, his foot appears to miss the carpet, and he still ended up wiping out on the ice.

NBC unsurprisingly cut the video right before DeGraw’s fall, but fans at the game shared videos from their perspectives.

We certainly hope DeGraw is OK because whether or not you’re covered in pads, falling on ice is not comfortable. But it seems like he’s all right after that fall because he tweeted his support for Nashville afterward. No mention of the wipeout though.

Fall aside, fans absolutely loved his national anthem. The Predators and Stars entered Game 5 with the series tied at 2-2.
