Gavin and Stacey will return for more episodes, says star Larry Lamb

Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb has said that the comedy will return again, dubbing the 2019 Christmas episode “cruel” for ending on a cliffhanger proposal.

He told OK! Magazine: “I think it would be pretty cruel to leave us on that cliffhanger. After the response it got at Christmas, you can more or less be certain that, sooner or later, there will be more.

“I’m sure the BBC can persuade Ruth [Jones] and James [Corden] to write more, so it’s a question of when, not if.”

Lamb, who plays Mick Shipman on the series, added that another one-off episode is more likely than a whole series given the cast’s busy schedules.

“The problem is, logistically, it’s a bloody nightmare as so many people involved with it have very active careers. It’s virtually impossible for there to be a whole series, but I imagine there will be another special.

“I’ve always thought a logical thing to do would be a Gavin And Stacey movie, but that’s just my idea.”

In April, Ruth Jones dressed up as Nessa to warn fans about the importance of social distancing.

“Oh, what’s occurring?” she began. “Not a lot other than a global pandemic, but the question was rhetorical.

“Now listen, I am not here to give advice, there’s plenty of others that would do that for you, it’s your life and I am not about to tell you how to live it. I wouldn’t do that to no one. I wouldn’t even tell myself to live my life.”

She continues: “If you see me in the morning doing my daily run, my half-marathon around Barry, don’t even think about breaking that two-metre rule, because if you does, I will not hesitate to tell you quite clearly to ‘back off’.”
