Gavin and Stacey superfan, 19, gets large James Corden tattoo after 200 mile round trip

A teenage Gavin and Stacey superfan who got James Corden to autograph her leg has now got the star's signature permanently tattooed on it.

Nicole Mellish drove almost 100 miles from her home in Pershore in Worcestershire to the Barry Island set of the the hit sitcom's upcoming Christmas special.

She then waited for hours in the sweltering sunshine to meet the show's co-writer and star.

And her patience paid off, with the 19-year-old able to both plant a kiss on Corden's cheek and get him to sign her right calf.

"I told him I was going to get it tattooed later and he was like, 'No, don't, please don't," laughed the day nursery worker. "But I ended up doing it anyway."

And she added that her parents didn't mind her new body art either, the both of them also being fans of the Bafta-winning BBC series.

"They love it too - but it's not like they could say much as it was my uncle that actually ended up tattooing me."

Indeed, Nicole's uncle  - who's name, sadly, isn't Bryn - inked her when she got home later that evening from his studio not far from where she lives.

"His name is Anthony Owen and he's been doing it for ages - it only took half an hour and didn't hurt at all," she added.

"Then again, I've already got a number of tattoos, including a dreamcatcher on my other leg, a flower and a heart on my wrist."

A fan of the programme since it started in 2008, Nicole admitted that Corden - who's currently huge in America as the host of ratings-topping chat show The Late Late Show on CBS - has always been her favourite.

"I think he's amazing and so funny as his character Smithy," she said.

"I just can't wait until Christmas to see how the filming all comes together.

"In fact, if I could find a way to get them to put it out before December then I would. It's going to be brilliant."
