Gavin and Stacey star issues firm warning on social distancing during coronavirus pandemic

A video has emerged of Gavin and Stacey star Nessa issuing stern advice to the public on social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.

The footage shows actress Ruth Jones, in full Nessa costume, filming herself at home to give the public an important message.

In the minute-long clip, she urges people to "back off" and support the NHS, reports Wales Online.

In the video, Nessa says: "Oh, what's occurring?

"Not a lot - other than a global pandemic.

"Now listen I'm not here to give advice. There are plenty of others doing that for you. It's your life and I'm not about to tell you how to live it.

"I wouldn't do that to no one - I wouldn't tell myself how to live my life, but I will say this: if you sees me in the mornings doing my daily run - my half marathon around Barry - don't even think about breaking that two metre rule.

"If you does I will not hesitate to tell you quite clearly to back off.

"Cos at the end of the day, when all is said and done, no word of a lie, if truth be told, just because you don't feel ill don't mean you're not infectious.

"You could be riddled."

Ness ends the message by saying: "Stay safe, stay out of my way and protect the NHS, obviously. It goes without saying."

The video has since been shared widely on social media.

Ruth's co-star, James Corden tweeted it with the caption "an important public message."
