Gavin and Stacey’s Larry Lamb drops major hint that new series is coming

Gavin and Stacey actor Larry Lamb has dropped a major hint that a new series is on its way after the Christmas special ended with a gripping cliffhanger.

The special episode broke a 17-year-old record on Christmas Day, when it became the most-watched scripted show of the decade.

Larry Lamb said he would be 'up for' another series (ITV)

11 million viewers tuned in for the for the hour-long sitcom, with a peak viewing audience of 12.3 million.

Larry, who plays Michael Shipman in the series, appeared on Lorraine to talk about the success of the Christmas special.

When asked by Lorraine whether a new series is on the cards, he said: “Quite honestly, with 17 million people that watched it, I don’t think the BBC are going to leave that one hanging.”

Lorraine then suggested another Christmas special or even a Gavin and Stacey movie.

Larry agreed, saying: “The audience is there, right?

“The BBC could put it out as a Christmas special, or combine the two.

“I’d be up for that.”

Oscar Hartland hints at season four of Gavin and Stacey

Oscar Hartland, who was the original Neil the Baby in earlier series, told Good Morning Britain: “I did ask James in the process of filming but he said, 'It's just [whether it's] what the people want'.

“Me, I would love it to happen. It really depends what other people think about it and if they like it or not."

James Corden and Ruth Jones have stayed pretty quiet on the topic, but Ruth didn’t rule it out completely: “I do say 'never say never', as while we did make it work, that was after three years of trying to find time when we could sit down and write it.
“Obviously with the way it ends, there is room for more.”
