Gavin and Stacey's Alison Steadman put on spot about show's future on Good Morning Britain

Gavin and Stacey star Alison Steadman has admitted she'd "love to do more" after being put on the spot about the show's future on Good Morning Britain.

Alison, who has made countless other TV appearances in the likes of Pride & Prejudice and Care, was on the ITV show to talk about National Day of Reflection, a minute's silence that is being held by charity Marie Curie to remember lives lost over the past year.

After Alison had opened up the devastating effects of people not being able to see their friends and family much over the last year or go to funerals of loved ones who've passed away, due to coronavirus restrictions, GMB host Susanna Reid turned the topic of conversation to Gavin and Stacey, the hit British comedy that still has legions of fans.

Its highly anticipated return to BBC1 on Christmas Day 2019 was the year's most viewed TV show of that year by some stretch and a repeat of it last year was another big ratings winner, meaning the appetite is most definitely there for more.

And picking up on that, Susanna said to Alison: "We can't let you go without asking is there going to be more of the most watched programme of 2019, Gavin and Stacey?!

After joking: "do you know you're the first person to ask me!" Alison added: "I wish i knew. I wish I could give you an answer, but I ca't.

"But yes, it's a programme the nation has loved and indeed all the actors in it. We just loved being part of it."

Pressing her, Susanna asked: "you'd love more wouldn't you?"

Alison replied: "I would. I would love more, I can't deny it."

Signing off the interview, Susanna's co-host Ben Shephard told her: "And we love Pamellarrr!"
