Gaurav Gupta: Grateful to be showcasing at Paris Haute Couture Week

After designers Rahul Mishra and Vaishali Shadangule, an Indian designer who truly deserved an invitation from the Fédération de la Haute Couture is Gaurav Gupta. And it came as no surprise when the designer announced his entry at the Paris Haute Couture Week to be held in January 2023. Gaurav Gupta has proved his mettle as a creative genius in the field of couture and his exemplary designs are no less than work of art. The design maverick was on a global domination spree in 2022 and 2023 seems more promising for him. In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, he spoke about what he will be showcasing in Paris and his plans in strengthening his brand globally. Here's an excerpt.

Give us an insight around the collection that you will be showcasing at Paris Haute Couture Week?

We have planned a very conceptual showcase to translate our design mind scape visually. It is a huge opportunity for the brand to exhibit our brand DNA of surrealism and fanaticism fused with our future primitive aesthetic at such a renowned global platform.

How excited are you to showcase at Paris Haute Couture Week? Was this platform always on your mind that someday you will be a part of the federation.

Paris couture fashion week is the most prestigious platform to showcase artistic couture. I feel extremely honoured to be invited by the FHCM to showcase as part of the official calendar for the spring summer chapter in January. It has truly been a dream ever since I was in Central Saint Martins and now the moment is finally here. We are overjoyed, proud and very grateful.

Last year has been fabulous for you with all the International exposure that you had. What are the other things in pipeline for you in 2023.

Currently, global expansion is the direction that the brand is focusing on – not only through celebrities or shows but also through a robust distribution and retail plan. The brand has had a fantastic year wherein we have successfully collaborated with some of the globally renowned cultural catalysts for iconic red carpet events and other significant moments and we would like to build on the momentum as we expand the brand globally.
