Gatwick Airport 'incident': Man rushed to hospital after falling from height

A man has been rushed to hospital after falling from a height inside Gatwick Airport.

A Gatwick spokesperson said: “Earlier this evening the emergency services and Gatwick staff were called to assist a passenger injured in a fall in the South Terminal Departure Lounge.

"The passenger has now been taken to hospital by the air ambulance service.”

Twitter feed, London 999, uploaded a picture which showed a screen had been erected in the busy terminal as medics attended to the man.

Another picture also showed ambulance staff wheeling a stretcher towards the scene.

It's understood the incident occurred at around 6:30pm.

It is not known how or where the man fell from exactly, or what the nature of his injuries are.

The incident appears to have happened just outside the World Duty Free shop in the airport's south terminal.

One witness said a man "fell from a height", according to the Daily Star.
