The Florida Gators remained ranked in the top 10 after a 42-28 loss to the LSU Tigers in Death Valley Saturday night.
UF pushed LSU for three quarters before two late Gators' drives were thwarted.
As a result, the Gators dropped just two spots to No. 9 in both the Associated Press and coaches' top 25 polls released Sunday.
The polls back up the Gators' suggestion after the loss that their goals remain attainable and they can reach the College Football Playoff semifinals if they win the SEC East Division and the SEC Championship Game.
Alabama remained No. 1 atop both polls after beating Texas A&M 47-28, but LSU jumped over Clemson to the No. 2 spot in the AP poll after LSU's strong showing against the Gators and Clemson's rout of rebuilding Florida State. Clemson was ranked No. 3 and Ohio State was No. 4.
In the coaches' poll, Clemson remained No. 2, followed by No. 3 LSU and No. 4 Ohio State.
UCF received three points in the AP poll and four points in the coaches' poll. No other team in the state of Florida received votes.
Boise State remained the highest-ranked Group of 5 team, checking in at No. 14 in the AP poll and No. 13 in the coaches' poll. The highest-ranked Group of 5 conference champion at the end of the season earns a New Year's Six Access Bowl bid.
