A man on TikTok may be well on his way to getting himself a Gatorade sponsorship after a video of him praising the drink while high on anesthesia went viral on the video sharing app.
The hilarious clip posted by Jerra, features her boyfriend, Colton, who has evidently been given anesthesia for some sort of surgery. He can be heard asking for more Gatorade as he lies in a hospital bed. Someone else in the room points out to him that he already has a cup of Gatorade to which he excitedly yells “it’s still here!”
The room is silent momentarily as Colton sips on his beverage but then the Gatorade praise continues as he tells anyone who’ll listen that it is the best Gatorade he’s ever had. He asks what flavor it is and is informed it’s the yellow one “the most basic one possible.” But this information doesn’t deter Colton who continues to heap praise on the drink.
The video is hilarious but somewhat wholesome as Colton takes pleasure from the simple things in life, like a cup of yellow Gatorade. The best part of the video has to be his voice, one viewer even compared it to Crush, the Turtle from Finding Nemo.
Anesthesia is a hell of a drug
Only anesthesia could make a man fall so deeply in love with a sports drink. You can even see his heart rate increase on the heart monitor when he takes a sip as one viewer pointed out, “His heart rate going up as he drinks the Gatorade he was THRILLED.” Others joked about how fun it seems to be talking to people on anesthesia with one viewer writing “is it possible to work exclusively in anesthesia recovery[?]”
Another viewer offered a more scientific explanation as to why Colton was so obsessed with Gatorade while under the influence of anesthesia. According to them, “a common symptom after surgery is dehydration and during that time you may have dry mouth and you[r] Brain release[s] dopamine as a reward.” The dopamine is apparently what makes it taste good.
Anyways, this would make a fantastic advertisement for Gatorade and many viewers even commented that the company should sponsor him. It’s possible that their wishes could actually become a reality as the official Gatorade account found the video and left a positive comment, writing, “not even anesthesia can break this kind of loyalty.”
As for Colton, his love of Gatorade continued even after he left the hospital as we see him in a car still sipping from the same cup and muttering “this Gatorade is so good,” more to himself than anyone else it seems.
