Gateshead school closures due to coronavirus pandemic

A number of schools across Gateshead have closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As the virus continues to spread across the country, some schools are struggling to run as normal due to staff shortages.

Some staff members are self-isolating following the government’s new advice, leaving schools understaffed.

The Government has said all schools will close from March 20 until further notice.

School closures in Gateshead as of Wednesday, March 18

Cardinal Hume Catholic School - partial closure

It will be closed to pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 for the remainder of the week: 18th, 19th and 20th March . Years 7, 8 and 9 will not attend for the rest of the week (18th, 19th, 20th March) due to staff shortage. School remains open for years 10, 11 and VI form.
