Four Gateshead residents are celebrating in style after netting £150,000 thanks to their postcode.
The neighbours scooped the cash when NE8 1XT was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Sunday, 7 August.
Three of the lucky lottery players on Bensham Avenue netted £30,000 each, while the fourth doubled their winnings to £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

64-year-old Susan James was the lucky £60,000 winner. On seeing how much she’d won, mum-of-four Susan said: “I’m shaking like a leaf. My heart is in my mouth to tell you the truth. It’s a very funny feeling.
“I’ve got four kids so they’ll get so much and I want to do the house out. I want a new three-piece suite and my daughter needs a new bed.”
The remaining winners have chosen to remain anonymous.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt shared her congratulations. She said: “A big well done to our lucky winners in Gateshead. I hope they’re all as thrilled as Susan and they’ve got something special in mind to treat themselves to with the cash.”
People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £900 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally. This draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode Education Trust, which supports charities include Book Aid International and War Child.
