Gateshead FC vice-chairman Trevor Clark steps down with immediate effect

Trevor Clark is to step down as vice-chairman of Gateshead Football Club with immediate effect.

Clark took up the role in May 2019 during a period of change on Tyneside, playing a significant part in securing the club’s future.

After the club almost ceased to exist in its current guise under the disastrous ownership of Ranjan Varghese and his 'advisor' Joe Cala, Clark, alongside current chairman Neil Pinkerton, was part of a five-man consortium who took control of the club, all of whom had a vested interest in Gateshead and the local area.

The new consortium also gave supporters' group, Gateshead Soul, a seat at the table and with every member now effectively holding a stake in the club.

Despite relegation to the National League North because of the financial mistakes of the previous regime, Gateshead have rebuilt themselves as a club that is on the up again - both on and off the pitch - and Clark's contribution will not be forgotten by the supporters.

Despite relinquishing his role as vice-chairman, he will remain an active shareholder in addition to retaining his involvement with Gateshead Football Club Foundation.

Remaining an avid supporter, a club statement said Clark wishes to place on record his thanks to the chairman, and offer his best wishes to everyone connected to the club for their tremendous support in what has been an eventful 12 months.
