Gateshead Football Club's match this afternoon has been called off after the death of non-league player Jordan Sinnott.
The 25-year-old was on loan at Matlock Town from National League North side Alfreton Town, who had been due to face Gateshead on Saturday.
But Alfreton confirmed earlier this afternoon that the match had been cancelled due to "tragic and unforeseen circumstances."
Gateshead FC retweeted the news, saying further details would be released "in due course".
Midfielder Sinnott came through the ranks at Championship side Huddersfield, following in the footsteps of father Lee, who made over 500 Football League appearances.
He made his first-team debut for the Terriers in the FA Cup against Leicester in 2013.
Sinnott joined Altrincham in 2015 and also had spells at Halifax and Chesterfield before joining Alfreton in 2018.
The Mirror reports Halifax confirmed his tragic passing on social media on Saturday afternoon.
"We’ve received terrible news that our former player Jordan Sinnott has passed away.
"The circumstances are not clear and we’ll not be commenting further out of respect to Jordan’s family.
"Our deepest condolences go to Jordan’s family at this extremely difficult time," the statement read.

Huddersfield also posted: "Everyone at Huddersfield Town is devastated to hear of the loss of Academy graduate Jordan Sinnott.
"Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this tragic time."
Alfreton Town confirmed on Saturday afternoon that their home clash with Gateshead had been postponed, around 90 minutes before kick-off.
Shortly afterwards, nearby Matlock confirmed their local derby at Mickleover Sports in the BetVictor Northern Premier Division was also off.
Matlock faced off against Alfreton in the Derbyshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night and won 3-1, but Sinnott was not involved.
Father Lee Sinnott captained Huddersfield after spells with Bradford, Crystal Palace and Watford, who he played for in the 1984 FA Cup final.
Since retiring, he has had managerial spells with Port Vale and Altrincham and was at Gainsborough Trinity last season.
Steve Eyre, who coached Sinnott at Huddersfield, posted on Facebook: "Rest in peace to my Boy Jordan Sinnott.
"Like a Son , my Captain , great times spent at two clubs and a special time winning a league together. God Bless you Son."
