Gateshead 10-year-old makes video to thank NHS and bring 'hope and colour' to Britain

This Gateshead 10-year-old wants to send a message of hope to the British public.

Laisey Hope Wells has produced an uplifting video, which she's shared on YouTube, and which she hopes will remind people that "the Great British public can beat the coronavirus together".

In the video, she thanks the wonderful NHS staff who are keeping us safe during this unprecedented pandemic.

Sharing an image from Chronicle Live's 'NHS Heroes' campaign, she calls NHS workers "our true angels" alongside an image of the Angel of the North.

Proud step-dad Graham Carr, 38, shared the video with Chronicle Live, and said: "She created to help give the nation some hope and colour at this time we are facing.

"She decided to do it by herself, her mam and I helped but it was all her idea. We're proud of her.

"She watches the news all the time, so she's up to date with what's going on, and she just wanted to do something."

Laisey Hope said: "I made it because I see that people around the world are getting sad because of people dying of the coronavirus and I wanted to do something to make them happy."

The video has been viewed on YouTube more than 1,300 times and the Colegate Primary School pupil said she was thrilled to see people had been touched by her video.

"It makes me really happy to see people appreciate it," she said.
