Gatehouse Primary pupils successful in Kirkcudbright Rotary Club quiz

Kirkcudbright Rotary Club held its primary schools quiz at Gatehouse.

Teams of four from Auchencairn, Borgue, Kirkcudbright and Twynholm competed in the first round of the Rotary District 1020 quiz.

In front of a large audience of teachers, family, friends and rotarians, question master was Paul Tebay.

He quizzed the teams on a large variety of subjects including language and literature, maths and numeracy, health and wellbeing, expressive arts, science and technology, Scotland and its people, a pot luck picture round and an observation round.

The five teams were each supported by a member of Kirkcudbright Rotary Club whose role was to help the students understand the questions, not to give them the answers.

The winners were Gatehouse closely followed by Borgue and Kirkcudbright.

Gatehouse now go forward to the area final of the quiz.

Kirkcudbright Rotary president Alex Kinnell presented them with the trophy as well as giving certificates to all the young people who took part.

He thanked everyone who had helped make the evening such a success.
